Shown is an inexpensive prototype lidar developed for the Naval Postgraduate school using a Hamamatsu hybrid PMT and NPS laser. We have experience designing and developing four other Lidars for the US government varying from hand-held to van sized.
Open literature Publications of Atmospheric Sciences Lab, WSMR lidars can be found on the publications link in the counters tab. There is now an infrared GHz single photon detector available. The Marina Photonics Photon counters can collect 2 to 4 channels of data at GHz count rates with no losses. One can expect affordable lidars costing about 1/4th that of competitors. .
